One of the easiest ways to secure media coverage is following the Twitter hashtag #JournoRequest - where journalists reach out to experts for comment.
Here's how you can get started with the #JournoRequest hashtag and secure your first piece of media coverage!
Start searching
Just search #JournoRequest on Twitter and filter by 'latest' - these requests move fast and if you don't respond - lots of other people will! I usually check it at around 10am and 2pm each day to see what opportunities are around.
How to respond
Most journalists have their email in their bio or their DMs will be open. Just drop them a message telling them what you do, why you're the right person to comment and find out their deadline so you know what time scale they're working to.
Be prepared to respond
As these are often quite last minute requests, if you do respond you need to be prepared for the journalist to come back to you quickly and make sure you have time that day to draft a comment or speak to them over the phone - these interviews usually only take 5-10 minutes.
